Default Tough day, but a good day

Took a day off and snuck the boy away from school while mom was away a few days with work. The water was like chocolate milk, but weather was perfect. We managed 6 fish, but biggest was 2.2 that my son got to haul and was an awesome experience for him and myself. Got to say, I was a little disappointed in the fish count, but my 5 year old hung tight and managed 9 hours of grind on the water which was a good sign for me. We lost a couple of nice ones after wrestling a make shift umbrella on the front of the boat trying to keep the sun off of him to keep mom happy. He is going to be a lot better fisherman than me. I hope I have many more days like this to come. BTW, the fish on the left had a hook in her belly and a leader hanging out of her mouth as you can see in the photo. I didn't even notice it until my son pointed it out.

Oh, and guess who just boated up and struck up a conversation but no other than the man himself, Mr. Nimrod.

After a few minutes, I thought I recognized him from his photos here and just had to ask if he was "who" I thought he was.

My son talked his ear off and I enjoyed getting to meet him and the info he shared about the area. What a great and friendly guy he is.

Hope we see you out there again Mr. Nimrod !

Good job Dad. I bet it won’t be long that when you’re ready to leave he’s going to be saying let’s hit one or two more spots before we go. Lol

Nice post, thanks for sharing your trip with us. Your son sounds like my 7yo grandson, he's all in when it comes to fishing. Good job, dad!

That boy looks like he's going to make you a fine fishing partner, nothing like fishing with our kids and grandkids.
