There is a fish by every tree. Well it looks like there should be.

Me and a buddy went to scout this lake out last year. I ask a local gentleman that was launching his boat if the lake was pressured. He ask what i meant by pressured, I pointed to the 25 trucks in the parking lot and he knew exactly what i meant. It was a weekday. He said it was a hard lake to learn and the fish can be very fickle, I took his word and have never fished it. Some pictures of a guy night fishing bass is what brought me there, looks to be some giant fish lurking those waters.

Barnett is more of a bass lake than a crappie lake. But there is a decent crappie population there. They are a little thinner than what you would find in the Arkansas River Valley lakes.

Nice fish! You are not the first person who has told me they caught some big crappie while bass fishing. In our sample two winters ago, we saw a strong year class of crappie from the previous year. There were very few that were medium sized and then there were some 15-16 inches. But from what I remember, they were a little on the thin side.

Yes, they were not fat fish at all. Which is just puzzling with the amount of bait in the lake. They will eat a jerk bait though...lol
