Mr. Crappie is coming to Hot Springs Village and will be giving a crappie seminar on Wednesday, March 13th at the Coronado community center at 7PM. Will be open to public, you just need to stop at the gate off Highway 7 and let the guard know you are attending and they will give you a pass. We are charging a 10$ admission fee which will all go into purchasing habitat for the village lakes (they are in great need!) Wear some Crappie.com thing and I will say hey!

I met Wally a couple of weeks ago down in Hot Springs at the Arlington Hotel. I was there for a Fisheries meeting and he was in town planning for the big crappie tournamentthat will be on Hamilton this year. He talked to me as if we had known each other for years. Seems like a good guy.

Yep, he called me out of the blue about 15 years ago, and we talked like we were friends forever, and now 15 years later, it's really been forever! lol

Wally and Lew's have generously donated lots of crappie gear for door and lottery prizes. Met with him yesterday and as slab says, once you meet him, he's your friend:

Why purchase habitat when if your members Could look and work together it could be free or close to it .?

The Village fishing clubs have installed brush and habitat in our lakes numerous time each of the past years I have lived here. Unfortunately, our lakes were logged off and dozed bald when they were constructed. Given that we have 11 lakes with the largest being 1000 acres, what we have done with natural habitat, which degrades over time, is not as permanent as artificial, so we continue to do both. Can't count the number of work barge loads of cedars we placed the last two years, but it is only a drop in the bucket of what is needed to improve our fisheries in the lakes. Our next work party to cut cedar trees and place them in our lakes is next week.
