They are all good now days.
I went with Garmin last year. It seemed like I got the best bang for the buck. No regrets so far.

I am overwhelmed searching for a fishfinder.
I have an older bassboat, realize in Ark. I need sidescan.
I want to stay under 1000.00 for sure. I had a elite on my last boat but no sidescan.
What would you get knowing it won't be interpreted with front or trolling motor?

HBirds are user friendly. You can get some good units under $1,000.

HB is the way to go!
I would get a minimum gps, depthfinder to install on the transom and read at your console and a good side/down image to install on the trolling motor for the front for while you are fishing. Could be done for your price range.
I DO MY BEST PROOFREADING RIGHT AFTER I HIT THE "SUBMIT" BUTON

You can buy a Garmin 93 SV echomap plus 9 inch with chirp downscan, side scan, sonar and maps with a touch screen for under 1000.00. No one else can come close to this price for a chirp tpuchscreen especially a 9 inch. It also has the panoptix port so if you find a gold mine, you can add livesope to the unit later. You won't be disappointed.
If you are interested in used, I have a complete setup. HDS7 gen2, HDS5 gen2, Structure Scan HD Module LSS2 Transducer and all cables I'd let go for $500. I had bought a new Garmin unit, then bought a boat that was rigged out with this Lowrance gear. It all works, I am just selling to fund a new Garmin unit to pair with the one I bought earlier.
Come on in boys! The water is fine!
