Default Lee Creek Res. near Van Buren

Anyone ever fish it? I've been fishing it since last spring and it's kicking my tail.

Looking for some help if someone doesn't mind. It's very close to where I live so I fish it out of convenience but I'm starting to think it doesn't hold many fish...idk

    Thanks in advance

I've done okay there for bass, but only caught a few crappie in the 20 or outings. The two wooded coves look like they should hold some crappie, but I haven't been able to get to the back of the coves, too shallow and too many stumps.

I tried it this past summer. I could see "fish" around the wooded cove southwest of the boat ramp but I never could get them to bite. Not sure what they were. The only thing I caught were catfish.

I've been told to fish up the river but I never went that far.

I snuck away yesterday afternoon because it was so nice outside. I fished that cove across from the ramp with the standing timber.... NOTHING. I could see a few fish (and I mean only a few) on the trees with Livescope but couldn't get em to eat. I also saw what looked to me like LOTS of shad in there.

That sounds like a great idea, Jason. Any suggestions on other places to try out near VB? I was thinking about Kerr near Sallisaw. Never been on it but its only a 30 minute drive for me I think. Bigger lake too, obviously. I have a friend the fishes Clear Creek but I believe he only fishes in the spring.

I am still learning but I need to start catching a few.

I've heard Courthouse Slough holds them in the spring. I graphed it this past summer and I saw a lot of likable structure in there. I didn't catch any crappie but it was more of an exploratory visit. It's around Lavaca.

I’ve heard good things about Kerr, haven’t fished it much. Stainless what ramp did you use to get to courthouse slough?

There was some old park just downstream from there.. I believe it was called River Ridge. It was somewhat tough to do by myself since there was no break from the current but I managed.

Boat ramp looks likes it’s in the middle of nowhere lol. I’ll have to check it out
