I've heard that they will migrate to other areas at times. Maybe that's what is going on. Anybody else heard of that? I know there have been times when I've Turkey hunted in the spring and be covered up with them and when I go back in the fall to hunt squirrels, I couldn't find one to save my life.

They go where the food is. When it plays out, they go where the food is.
    Tell'em I'll be there.

Saw that up Devils Fork a few years ago. They're good swimmers. Kept waiting for a big bass to inhale one.

Must be a case of "the acorns looking greener on the other side". lol

I've seen them bail out of a tree while my dogs are treeing and swim across sloughs. They do migrate when food runs out in the area they were at.

a friend counted 40 one day on white river at norfork
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.
