    Default brush piles

When you build brush piles what do you use ? I hate small Cedars or other small bushy stuff . Hard to fish and as I have posted before , a biologist said you need 10'' spacing to allow fish access . This makes fishing them easier . I try to get those helping me as a rule cut off anything smaller than your thumb . I like it to be fishable right away and heavy enough to last for years .

We have tried almost everything but Pine . The Sweet Gum lasts awhile . I like Persimmon and Oak . Cedar is fine if you thin them radically and go big . Those small Christmas tree types not worth effort as that are short lived as cover.

We like the persimmons, Osage orange and iron wood. Have been working with some of these also.

That looks like irrigation pipe and has me thinking.... I have about 8 old leaky garden hoses that need to be tossed but haven't yet because I keep thinking I'll find a new use for. Has anyone made similar structure out of garden hose? I wonder how I could get the ends to stay somewhat buoyant so the "branches" don't lay on the bottom, spray foam in the ends maybe?

Foam noodles would not last but waterlog. I might try to glue and clamp ends of hoses to hold air . That would hold them up .

The last tops I put out were
Left over Christmas trees that were still tied up.
I think we sunk about 80 trees in one day.
They make a huge mess in the boat
But when they are still tied up you can haul a bunch. We cut the strings as we threw them overboard.
