    Default To my amazement.

Recently I bought a pound of minnows and then my fishing trip didn't work out as planned. Well I got busy and forgot about them and left them in the minnow bucket in my boat. When I thought about them again it was a week later. So expecting them to all to be dead. I was surprised to see they were still alive. My reasoning is that due to it being so cold out they used very little oxygen and cold water holds oxygen better thus they lived. Now I hated to just throw them out with them still alive but I was fixing to have to be gone for 10 days and I thought there's no way they could live in that same bucket that much longer. But I really didn't have time to mess with them so I decided to just set the bucket in an old refrigerator that I have in my shop with is set at a low 30's temp. And to my amazement 10 days later they were all still alive. I don't know if putting them in the refrigerator will work during the summer but if it does the idea might save someone from having to buy more minnows between trips.

I had a place I fished for bass with very large shiners in the summer. Keeping them alive was a hassle. I would put them in a bucket inside a large ice chest and surround the bucket with ice. Worked great and as soon as they hit the water they were really frisky and had a lot of action!
Come on in boys! The water is fine!

Be careful tossing minnows in cold water into warm water as you catch kill them from temp change shock .
