    Default White Oak Lake 7-7-17

Got all my yard mowing done so I went by this morning and took my dad fishing. It got HOT, but the fish didn't. We ended up with seven total. GTT

That was the big one of the bunch. The other six were about bluegill size. My son loves shrimp. I may go by Brookshire's and get some of those to go with the crappie.........that along with some fresh purple hull peas, fried okra, and some sliced tomaters might just make a good supper! GTT

Nice fish. Your purple hulled peas are ready? Man, I got mine in late this year. Mine are only about 4 inches tall.

Actually, my good friend P.R. picked a 5 gallon bucket full at one of his friends' farm in Hermitage and brought them to us. After my grandparents from Bearden passed away, the deer ate up any garden we tried to plant at our farm. Haven't planted a garden in years........usually support the locals at the farmer's market. Getting ready to make a trip to Hampton for some peaches too; we'll be making another trip over there in October to kick their tails in Friday night football game. GTT

It's nice to have friends like that. My "garden" is way to big for my emediate family. This is mostly my father-in-laws doing. We end up giving away 3/4 of what we grow to friends and coworkers.

Thanks for the report and picture. The peas, okra, home grown tomatoes, and cornbread is a hard combination to beat. I know what we are going to eat tomorrow ummmm!

Upper White Oak has a Place in my Heart as my family owned homes on the Lake for years , and my Mom and Dad owned the store on the Lake that had boat Rentals . Mom use to have lunches for others that worked in the area.. they lived upstairs over the Store till their house was built across the lake
