    Default Lake Ouachita?

Heading to Lake Ouachita Saturday and staying for several days at Shangrila. Never have fished there but excited about going. Any tips on fishing that area would be appreciated. Thanks

I agree about the brush piles. Every time I have caught crappie at Ouchita it has been out of the brush piles.

A friend of mine tried the banks for bass last Saturday and caught probably 50. If you can't find crappie, sounds like you could hit a bank and find a busterd rather easily. GTT

The interactive map on Game and fish website shows some brush pile locations. Several are located pretty close to Shangri La. We've been fishing around hwy 27 and caught some last weekend on brush piles in 9-12 feet of water. We also caught some just trolling the banks and casting around any visible structure. Good luck!

I fished a Sat & Sunday bass tournament there last weekend. I watched several boats do well way up a creek where the creek channel made a bend in standing pole timber. The water at the edge of the channel was 8' & the channel was 14'. I talked to two guys that said they could catch them in the channel but not up on the spawning flat yet. I saw about 30 crappie caught. I only saw 5-6 that came from the spawning flat so I guess they were telling the truth.

Thanks Slabmaster, that's the kind of info I was hoping for. I will be trying a little spider rigging if that is slow I'll get out the 10' footer and try the creeks out.
