Thread: Help Protect Lake Washington

I think it be nice to stop the out of staters going down for weeks even months at a time and filling freezers with crappie and taking back up north and selling, this is definitely hurting the lake as much as anything, don't understand how it's legal! when you got several hundred guys doing this for a 2-3 month period no lake can take that kind of pressure no matter what ! Gonna have to stop the over harvesting before it detroies the fishery

What states allow the legal sale of game fish, or are you talking about illegal sales? Guess curious, I have only heard about illegal sales. Thanks.

Washington is ranked #2 in the country for trophy Crappie.....we would like to keep it that way. It is considered a local treasure in this area by knowledgeable anglers and we have to endure watching it being overutilized, raided and bled to death for short fish every time we go over there. I have not kept a half dozen fish under 12 inches off Washington in the past three years....there is no point in keeping short fish on that lake. If quantity is what you are all about just to sell them or brag about how many fish you have caught there are plenty of other lakes in the area that fit the bill perfectly with 50 fish limits. Publicity is good in some ways and in others it is detrimental. Our beloved Lake Washington has been hurt badly in the past few years and another couple of years like the last couple could do irreparable harm. We think it should be utilized like the trophy lake it most definitely has proven to be and feel that the next Mississippi state record is already alive and swimming in Lake Washington. Please do our sport a great service and sign this petition as many others have already done.....it only takes two minutes.

A new MS state record would also be a new world record white crappie.

Washington is definitely a Trophy Lake and should stay that way.
