    Default Nimrod

Headed to nimrod on sunday with my wifes 87yr old grandfather and also her dad. Both love to fish but neither seem to make time for it. Any suggestions on where to launch and where to concentrate our efforts? I have never laid eyes on the lake. But have noticed some nice stringers coming from it lately. So we gonna give it heck.

LP my wife and I fished there for first time last Saturday and caught our limit of 9" or bigger but no slabs. We put in at the dam and fished the edge of the channel trolling crank baits. 16' of water seemed to be sweet zone. I trolled cranks because it's a new lake for me and I can learn a lot about a lake covering that much water moving that fast. However I think you could probably catch better fish spider rigging. The channel is easier to find toward the upper end where it's marked with channel markers. Good luck.

fish the main river channel along the drops , u should be able to find fish about anywhere you go, fish have been more on the flats than the ledges lately, pullin cranks or spidering is good but better fish can be caught vertical jigging brush of you spend the time to locate structure! 6-8 ft of water has been best for me last few weeks

I only got hung up once, while trying to find the channel and got too shallow. We kept 40 but probably caught that many less than 9" that we threw back. Cranking will keep you busy, jigging like Greg said will probably get you better fish.

I would spider rig along those channel ledges staying in 6-15 feet of water. When you hit a good area with better fish carpet bomb it by going back in fourth through the area until the bite falls off. Then move on...bess learn how to harm some good sized #6 or 8 minners for better fish also if your going to Nimrod and don't know the lake that well.

I went Thursday and fished from 12:30 pm to about 4:00. I had a limit of 10 to 12 1/2 inchers and caught a bunch of shorter fish. I was spider rigging with 4 rods, each with one Minner Critter tipped with a minnow. It was sprinkling rain most of the time and I was fishing the marked channel between Carter Cove and Cardon Point. Most fish were in 8 to11 feet of water just on the flat side of the channel drop- not on the deep side of the drop. Good Luck....
