I can tell you that the guy that owns the ramp down at Peckerwood is loving this board. When I got there to put in there was not even a place to park my trailer.
A couple of weeks ago my neighbor an older jent. who is an excellent crappie fisherman caught a limit of fish and told a few friends since that time I have been hearing reports that the fish were tearing it up on Lake erling out of cypress point where both my neighbor and I both live as I headed out of the boat house this morning I noticed about 6 boats crappie fishing on the channel out from cypress point I went on fishing not at cypress point but further up the lake had three people stop and tell me that the fish were really tearing it up out of cypress point well folks nobody was catching fish in cypress point area but the rumor mill was going strong and probably still is the origional limit that was caught was not caught at cypress point where will remain a mystery simply because the older jent. who caught it would never tell you where or on what color that is just his way I fished with him on and off for 15 years set out tops with him but I would not even expect him to offer to tell me how or where he caught the fish except in general terms people would be much better of just to start fishing and find their own hot spots my hot spots are only good for one or two trips very seldom am I able to catch fish sameplace sameway two days in a row maybe I am a bad fisherman but if so that is the way it is I will gladly share any information with anyone simply because I know how hard it is to consistently catch the elusive crappie but rumors can cause you to spend lots of time in the wrong place you gotta laugh. By the way neighbor had 5 today and I had 6 not exactly tearing it up.

Your post reminds me of reading magazine articles then going out and buying everything they said they used. Makes me wonder who really writes those things.
Going through life, I have learned that I didn't want to listen to advice from old men when they told me how to do something. But, when they told me how not to do something, it was always the voice of experience.
Maybe you should ask this old man where he ain't fishing.:D

I might knoiw the gentleman your talking about, is his first name Don? If so he's the one I talked to last week. I should have stated I did not know where on the lake he caught the fish. I know he has a camp at Cypress Point, and I assumed he was fishing somewhere in that area. We all know what happens when you assume something. I have known Don a long time (50 years) and he might have caught his fish the unloading/loading ramp at Cypress Point, Cannon Field, Lick Creek, Sandy Point or any where in between.
This is the first time we are going to Thunderbird Lake. Heading to lake Thunder Bird next week for spring break. Can anyone share gps info for brush piles? I know about a month ago I spoke with a guy at the Thunderbird Marina and he said there are brush pile all over Thunderbird. he also said they are unmarked. I'm renting a boat for 24 hours and would like to make the most of the time with my children. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also any areas where we can catch sunfish with the kids would be great as well.

Funny how one guy can catch a mess and no matter how bad fishing gets for next several weeks rumor mill has them tearing it up. Even the fishing reports put out by AGFC can be fictional stories dreamed up by shop owners or a week or two late. Only sure way to know is to go fish.

Is Thunderbird a private lake? I can't seem to find a lake map with contours.
