    Default New Graph

I'm looking replacing my old graph and man things have gotten confusing, not that it's hard to confuse me but anyway I'm looking at a Lowrance hds 7 gen 3. What I'm wondering is it worth the extra money to go with a 3D transducer vs. a total scan transducer, the total scan will give both side image and down image and you can overlay the two. 1100.00 vs. 1700.00
    thanks

This is just my opinion, but if Lowrance is the way you want to go I'd go with total scan. Run it get used to it. Do a bunch of reading on the 3D and later if you think you want or need it you can always buy it used. See a few for sale on BassBoatcentral so that tells me that some folks aren't enamored with it. Lot of money to have something your not really happy with.

Hey Cray, Thanks for your response I believe your right I'm going to wait on the 3D . I'm not necessarily a Lowrance die hard , I have used Lowrance most of my life. What unit would you recommend I'm definitely open to opinions from anyone 1000.00 a lot of money for a blue collar redneck like myself

Friend is a Lowrance guy. He has a HDs 10 or 12 on console. He talked with Brian at BBG marine and ended up buying the Elite 9 with regular transducer because it performs same functions as HDS and can be networked to his existing unit. Elite saves you a few dollars. In your case for your budget I'm posting this one. It's a 7 in.

Now having said all that, I have a Humminbird 998 and a 597. I find them a little simpler for me to use. The new Helix units are very impressive and have a great price point on the 7 or 9 in models. Most guys love them but on a couple of Facebook pages for Humminbird I'm starting to see complaints about problems with SI on some of them. They do have a great picture on the screens compared to older units. My best recommendation is call Brian at BBG marine. Tell him what you are looking for in a unit, how you would be using it. He is a sponsor on here and a great guy to do business with. He will explain everything to you so you can understand it and will not try to over sell you on something you don't need.
