    Default Arkansas River Sauger

Has anyone fished for Sauger on the Arkansas River? I ran across this article and thought it might be fun to try on a winter's day. Obviously, it won't be for several weeks due to the flooding, but might be fun to try.

    Thanks,

I never caught any numbers but know there are a few out there . Most people catch them on accident fishing for Crappie or Bass .

Good eating if you can figure them out. They used to catch boat loads of them at Pickwick below the dam. Should be similar in AR. Didn't have the flying carp then tho.

Don't know. I've only fished at Pickwick dam once. I hear the AR river has plenty of them, but no one fishes for them much.

yep, back in late 60's when i was going to SCA, now UCA, us poor college boys would go to the small pool over the spillway out at the reservoir. fishing from the bank, we would catch bass, bream and crappie - but every once in a while a big ole grennel would jump on. they felt more like a log than a big ole catfish does.
