My good buddies clay and danny and I went out to one of my reservoirs this morning. All the water was locked up of ice except for about a 1acre portion. Gunned our 18 birds and was gone by 0653!!! They wanted that hole so bad! We werent even hid, was just standing out there randomly. All gadwalls except for 1 mallard and a couple mergansers. Not a greenhead fest but definitely had fun! Furthest shot was 15yrds. It was like picking low hanging fruit guys. Definitely a day to remember!

Good for you guys........when you have the only naturally open water it really is something to see how bad the birds want in...

Nice job. Haven't duck hunted in over 10 years. Had too many bad experiences ( tripping over logs, filling up waders, dropping gun in the water, etc...). You get the picture. In high school we were awfully proud of gadwalls. Taste just like a mallard to me!

I like a gadwall. They eat great when marinated for 24 hours in the marinade of your choice, sliced in 1/4 inch thick strips, then double battered in some seasoned all purpose flour with a buttermilk/egg wash in between, then fried to a golden brown, but not over cooked, then dipped in some home made honey mustard.

RCC, you are hired as camp cook down at our hunting camp this next year. Those duties will include cooking in the blind (you get to shoot too!!)
