    I had one of those Johnson century reels. It was the first reel I ever owned,and a very good one. Thanks for the memory
    Last time I saw a mouth like that it had a hook in it!

    I remember when that was the only fishing show that was on TV where I lived. I watched it every week. I also had to have a Johson Century reel after watching the show, used it for many years.

    I also watched him alot but there is one thing that really made me lose alot of respect for him and that was the time he was cought cheating in a bass tournament.

    Wasn't that long ago Jerry McGinnis showed some OLD film clips and he was included. Didn't get to watch much TV but do remember. thanks--shu

    I had almost forgotten about him. Thanks for reminding us of one of the best shows I watched growing up. I too watched it on an old black and white tv with a set of rabbit ears. You had to have the tin foil just right to tune it in.

    His show was back in the days of Gadabout Gaddis, The Flying Fisherman. And Curt Gowdy,on the American Sportsman. Those were fishing shows on fishing, not on sponsors.

    Don't know about yours, but our black and white round screen had a remote..


    It was me. LOL but then again we only had one channel and the on and off button was all that got turned off.
    Also got to see the first time man left for the moon on that TV..
