I am a bass fishermen wannbe crappie fishermen and what creek, nimrod, meatgetter, bowhunter, billyE and crappie pro has been trying to pound in my head and finally sunk in is its not really color its the crappie has to see it (the jig or minnow) to bite it.They need to see the bait (minnow or jig) just above them if possible.the color black/chart,whitw/chart is so they can see the bait. Not 2 in, not 6in from their head.the bait must be right on top of their head 99.9% of the time are they won,t bite!!!

Default The proverbial artificial bait question: Which colors/size are the best?

Good read. I used to fish the clear waters of ouachita religiously and the Tennessee kalins shad on a pony head was the best color for me on that lake. It was the demise of many crappie.

I'm not taking time to read this...

However, Carol has told me the abbreviated version, then read it to me verbatim while in transit. All I've got to say is "Sir," this was very well written and needs to be locked and stickied. If a person can't catch a fish on a jig after this, he needs to take up golf.
