I can catch em on both when we get around crappie but some lakes they like jigs better, some lakes they like minnows better. I prefer jigs myself if I can catch the fish on them as opposed to minnows, always have. Now I will tell ya this: I live next to a guy from Wisconsin who in my opinion ain't much when it comes to fishing but said to figure out these Hot Springs lakes we need to call a guide so he did. The guide told him over the phone the minnows were better so believe what you want. Course the guide did tell Mr Wisconsin all you have to do is find the brush on these deep clear lakes also which I told Danny I have found a lotta brush on those lakes and very little fish so it's more than just that simple but back to the Jig/Minnow discussion, I like jigs way better. I don't like the tiny 1/32OZ jigs they often say use due to the fact you can't fish them down at the depths where crappie often hang out. I stick with the 1/8OZ size that work just fine once you find a few fish.

As for the color issue of what to use clarity does make somewhat of a difference but certain colors will work no matter water clarity given the fact that super clear water isn't on my list kinda like MidSouth said. As mentioned anything with Chart seems to be a good thing to stick with. I'd say the most asked question though is how to catch clear water fish and I haven't an answer for that one either.

Default The proverbial artificial bait question: Which colors/size are the best?

I am still very skeptic of how much color really matters... or does it really matter at all ?

My whole life I used Black/Char supper jigs anywhere between Wright and Conway. That's all we used... If we weren't catching chances were no one else was either.
