    Cool Lake Mattoon Crappie

I hit lake Mattoon this morning looking for crappie. Caught about 40 with 18 keepers between 11 & 14 inches. Has anyone else been having any luck? Caught them using yellow and red mister twister tails tipped with pink crappie nibbles. Seemed to work pretty well.

I caught one 13 &1/2 inchs long and several other nice keepers. But, I have been catching them all summer more or less.

    Cool

I spend the summer months bass fishing until the nights and mornings start to cool off. Its time to hit the crappie hard and fill the freezer for winter or until theres hard water.

Yes I do. Been ice fishing for about 10 years now. really enjoy it but the ice just doesn't last long enough. Have made a few trips up north to Mich. but I have a hard time taking vacation in the winter, when the fishing is so good here in the summer. My inlaws own a 16 acre lake up by Rushville IL. so I spend alot of weekends up there summer and winter.
