Truck, boat collide in lake after pickup rolls down incline.

A boat-vehicle collision is not an unusual occurrence in resort areas - unless the collission occurs in the water as happeded in the Lake Pomme de Terre area recently!

the incident occurred at 10:50 pm, May 22 at Pittsburg Park area southeast of Pittsburg and involved a Missouri Water Patrol boat and a Corps of Engineers pickup!

The initial call was an investigation into a report of a female having been injured when she was run over by a boat trailer. Responders to the call included emergency medical personnel, law enforcement officers and officials with the Corps of Engineeers and Missouri Water Patrol.

While officers were gathering information about the incident, the woman left and disappered into a group of bystanders. A few moments later, the bystanders began yelling, and officers saw a white pickup truck floating in the lake. Rescue responders pulled the truck out of 3-4 feet of water.

The truck belonged to the Corps of Engineers and had been driven byh Corps Ranger Brian Thompson. When the truck rolled down the incline into the water it struck a boat that had been operated by Water Patrolman Brandon Butler. The impact caused damage to the right side of the patrol boat.
