i to use alltel and hate it! but i'm happy that you like yours.
your puck thingy should have came with a longer white USB cord, use it and put it in a window sill.
I just switched to Alltel wireless internet. I am fine with it except for one thing. When I am in the house the signal strength is intermittent. If I go outside I have no problems. Is there anything I can install that would boost the signal in the house?

If your wireless signal comes through the phone line make SURE that your phone GHertz isn't the same as your wireless signal!!!!!!!!!! I had that problem with my phone and when my provider changed my settings I was free and clear and no more problems!!!!!!!!!

Have verizon wireless and my signal is at the highest possible rating.
Have no problems.........It has to be in your system or the company
Hopefully it will get better for you

What I have is an air card. Sorry for not making that clear in my first post. Basically it is like a cell phone signal. I just plug the air card into a usb port on the computer and then I am wireless. I am fine when I go outside, but the signal drops in the house. I can still connect, but the performance is much slower than when I go outside. I was thinking maybe I need some sort of repeater or something along those lines to boost the signal. I just don't know much about this stuff and could use some guidance. I don't want to get something where I have to plug a cord into the computer. The whole purpose for going wireless was to not be tied down to one location.
contact all tel they should offer a booster you can set up in your house i have heard that they are a little pricey but we have a couple people here at work that has them and they say they work great but we are all on nextel/sprint service.

Hunt4crappie,
Do you, by chance, have a metal roof? If so, you're in for a long row to hoe.

That was your first mistake...........We had Alltel at the office and the only place it worked was at the office in Goldboro, NC...........
We finally switched to AT&T and the only place I don't have coverage now is South Korea for some strange reason........
3G GSM is a much better platform........whether tethered to your phone or using an "Air Card"

Someone once asked me: "Aren't you concerned with all the gaps in your work history due to fishing?"
My response: "I am more concerned about the gaps in my fishing history due to work!"
