I caught several @ 50ft on the bottom @ Woods a couple of years ago.I was desperate or I would never have tried it that deep.They won't swim away if you throw them back until they lay there for a while.
Whats the deepest depth you think you where with your bait and catch a crappie? Yea, I was bored so I had to think of something.lol I remember catching one in the winter time on Lake Gunersville @ somewhere around forty-five feet deep fishing the river channel ledge. I love to crappie fish in the winter. Went one day last winter and the temp did not get over 39 that day. Got up very windy and water spray off the water was murder on my hands. Left for home at 1:30 that day but caught some nice fish.

i also like winter time fishing.caught one between 30 and 35' last year.it was a 15" fish.it was in december at woods,of course,no one was with me,but i did take a pic.
