Here in Texas it is around 65 when they are in full spawning mode. Wish I could be of more help in the part of the country you are in.
My local honey-hole has been hangining right around mid 60's the last couple weeks. We've been getting males off shallow wood and females out deeper, and they have eggs. I know I read on here at some point, what the ideal spawning temp is, but I don't remember. When should I start looking for the whole gang to be in shallow in full spawn-mode?

I live for the thump!
as here in Michigan and what fish'aholic says is pretty much the rule of thumb. Lots of things beside the water temp can make or break the spawn, but the temp is top on the list of musthaves. Look for the mid to upper 60's to put the males in the shalllows.
Temps here in west Michigan are supposed to be in the 80's for the next couple of days so that should put the water temps right there for us.
