Thumbs up Ol Tom is back in town......video

Got my boat really humming. Caught fish. Weather sucked. Water up still. Cold front moved in. Came home to mow the lawn (bail hay) and then headed back.

Made a good video (transom shot). Video is the way to go if you wanna ever figure out what's going on back there.

This is a good flick of the transducers skimming thru water and air bubbles and chines and all.

    You all take a look.

The SI is retracted (via 4 in linear actuator). The Vexilar skimmer is set up per manual.

What next? Clik on the blue.

have you ever tried a inside hull mount? one that mounts inside the hull on the bottom of your boat? do they work better?

I have never figured out transducer mounting. I'll bet the last 8 boats I've had, I never could get the transducer to work at speed. Now with my last boat, I've finally got lucky. It's a G3 V170T and I've got a Humminbird 931C on it. Reads bottom at all speeds !

Transducer mounting is at best a gamble in my opinion. Like Shellback I've never had great success reading at high speeds. This last mount is better than the others and I still had to lower it more than the directions to get where it reads good other than outside turns.

Tom check out this ducer mount bracket
    Transducer Brackets for Outboard Motors

Put your ducer on this bracket & U will be able to move your ducer everywhere on the back of your boat & even below your boat bottom to find the right location-s for Ur ducer. I have used this on 997 for over 3 years & moved unit between 2 boats in 5 minutes. It may not tell u what u want to hear but at least you will know. One thing-- it holds steady on back of my boat but-- my boat can only go 32-34 mph...Alumunin V hull 4 strakes rivets on top of rivets 16.5 Sea nymph. So many rivets I believe bottom composed of recycled Hamms beer cans. can't complain its floats.........:D oop sorry to ramble
