    Default Night fishing crappie frenzy

Went out fishing at CJ Strike yesterday. It was a hot day, up in the low 80s. Started fishing around 5:00 PM, and while it was light out, you couldn't buy a bite. I had nary a nibble for over three hours, and was thinking of packing it in. Soon as the sun went down though, there must have been a massive school move into shore, because none of us on shore could keep them off the hook.

I wasn't even using any bait, just a black and chartruse tube jig and was getting a bite on almost every cast. I was using a glow stick on a bobber, and by the time it finally went out and I packed up at almost 4 AM, I had about 50 in the cooler and had thrown at least that many back. Most of the ones I kept were around 10". And the bite was still going on when I left!
    Don't worry, catch crappie.

Will have to remember that when I finally get out to my crappie lake here. Nice catch and have to hear if it works again.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

Idaho, dusk, crappie moving into feed and spawn. Will go deeper in the daylight hours if bright day. Some will stay close to beds, others will seek cover close by or suspend close by.

    Water temp? Size of impoundment?

Regardless, good job. Feels good to get into them and makes the tirp worthwhile.

My boys went down to C J strike Sunday and caught a bucket full of crappie. My grand son age 12 caught as many as my boys. I've been posting pictures of fish I have caught here in Idaho. Going out this coming Saturday for crappie will post a few pictures. I did catch the biggest crappie that I have ever seen and gave it away to a couple fishing. It was 14 inchs long a white crappie.
