Speakin of mashin beans, I'm sort of a late-in-life coffee convert...

Why is it the whole beans in the store, in a bag, cost more than the same
brand coffee already ground? I can easily see/believe it'd be BETTER,
but why more expensive? Pay extra when there appears to be less labor
involved? I'm confused as usual.
