The crappie in Smithland Pool of the Ohio river have been spawning in 1-2 ft of water this past week. The fishing was just starting to get good, the spawn was well underway. Then several inches of rain fell in the Ohio river valley and now the river is on a major rise.
My question is this, if an extra 4-5 feet of muddy water covers the crappie beds can the fish have a successful spawn? Also, it looks as if this high water will last at least another couple of weeks.

I've always tried to find some slack water area's and I've always caught a few but it kind of makes it search fishing.

high water wont effect them at all. What will effect them is, if the corps if the body of water is controlled by the corps, lets the water out to fast and the beds are exposed to dry land

The crappies can have a successful spawn with the high water. Nice stringer BTW!
