Okay guys don't laugh but I thought I had it figure out before I talked to my buddy.
I'm wanting to get a few jigs in a varitey of weights. Could someone tell which is smallest to the biggest in these sizes? This is order that I'm thinking,
smallest-1/64oz, 1/48oz, 1/32oz, 1/24oz biggest. My buddy wanted to flip-flop 1/48 & 1/32.
What size is bigger then 1/24, do we go to 1/16?
... the fraction (1/16 or 1/24) is in referrence to weight in "ounces". So, a 1/16 is one sixteenth of an ounce in weight ... or, it takes 16 of them to weigh one ounce. The more it takes, the smaller they are ... or, actually, the less they weigh (size is not the issue here ... weight is)
The proper order would be : (heaviest to lightest)
1/16th
1/24th
1/32nd
1/48th
1/64th
... cp
I have from 1/80 to 1/4 and use 1/32 to 1/4 most. In the spring when they are shalow I like 1/32 best, but once summer gets here I like 1/8 & 1/4.

might make it easier if you think of it this way: a dime is 1/10 of a dollar and a penny is 1/100 of a dollar. that's enough math, time to go fishing!
I use nothing bigger than a 1/16oz jig. Smallest 1/32oz. Thats it. I'm a Tube fisherman.
I carry 1/80 1/64 1/48 1/24 1/32 1/16 3/32 1/8 3/16 and 1/4
Pulling jigs I'll run a 1/24 to 1/32 sometimes 1/16 if the fish are deep. But for tightlining, I've gotten to where I only use 3/32 or 1/4 oz. Seem to be catching a lot of fish on the new 1/4 oz minnowhead jig. It's great for fishing the 12 to 15 ft deep.
I have compartments in my tackle box with jigs smaller than 1/4 oz but I never use them and don't really know the sizes they really are. I'm more apt to have a 3/8 oz tied on as a 1/4 oz.
I kind of think iffen I was using something like these 1/80 1/64 1/48 1/24 1/32 I would be loosing my rods while fishing because I would be falling asleep and letting go of my rods while waiting for my baits to descend to the fish. :D
Someday I hope to fish with someone using those liter weight jigs and get some lessons on how to use them and see what I'm missing.
