    Default Gps?

Who uses a GPS to help locate their favorite fishing holes, dropoffs or brushpiles? What kind do you have? Do you use it much? Thinking of buying a Garmin Legend for fishing and hunting.

I have 2. One is a hand held Garmin etrex that does not have the maps included. Its the yellow one...Cheapest. It works great. #2 is a Lowrance LMS-480 fishfinder. This one has maps included and tells you more than I need to know but both are amazing pieces of equiptment and very useful tools. You will be pleased with any make Im sure. And yes ....you can lock onto brushpiles or any other spot you want. Just hit the waypoint button.Billy

I use a Garmin Map 76 and like it. Use it more for running at night and finding fishing spots.

I have a Lowrance LMS 480. It's a sonar/gps/flasher. With out it... I might as well leave my poles at home. The only knock is that it is not portable.. and color would have been nice. Navonics and Hot Maps work great. It won't work for hunting but I have went back to the boat, turned it on and found out how far I was from the ramp in another state.

I have a Garmin Etrex. The inexpensive yellow one. It does just fine for me. I don't use it to locate fishing spots, though. I use it to find my way out of these Louisiana swamps I fish in.---Pooch

Same here Wardy, my LMS 480 best thing I ever bought. Can go right to the creeks and also right to the bends in creeks. I have the Navionics MMC last years model and my son has the new MMC from them and his actually almost shows too much on the lakes with the HD (1' contour lines).

Thumbs up Buy one when ya can!

I have to recomend Lowrance regardless of the model number. I had a problem because my H20 unit got moisture inside(waterproof), and they gave me a brand new unit at no charge, almost a fulll year after I bought it. Top notch customer service to say the least!

GPS is really a great advantage to add to any fishing arsenal!

EZ1...Garmin Legend is a good choice. I know the screen is not very big, but you want something that is portable since you want it for hunting & fishing. I think you'll be pleased with it...

Lowrance GlobalNav 310,(old) and a Garmin E-trex, the camo one with
the sun/moon calculator in it. I mainly use the 310 fishing, when I see
something of interest, or get hung up, I mark it. Also mark when I catch
fish, after awhile doing this in one spot, I started to see some curious
patterns develop, like fish catches strung out along a line across what
looks like a featureless flat on the depthfinder - maybe a subtle depth
change or old silted in creek channel that doesn't show up easily or at all?
Go by it for my trolling speed, too.
