Holy Crap, and to think I have never even got to try one.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, rather to skid in sideways, body used up and totally worn out screaming 'WOO~HOO what a ride!'

Awesome! Can you give a novice some tips? Kind of places to look, trees to look by, etc?

Look along south facing hill slopes,

Trees: ash, elm, black oak, any dead tree or stump, sometimes it dosnt matter what type of tree.

Also look in creek and river bottoms they can grow around cottonwoods and williows in the bottoms.

May Apples are a good sign where may apples can grow so can mushrooms.
