Depends on what I'm doing. For float fishing from shore, I like 12-14' match rods (specially designed for float fishing.)

For casting jigs, I use a variety of light and UL rods in the 4.5-7' range.

I don't troll, so I'll let somebody else chime in on that.

I use an old BnM 12'er and a Firecast panfish special 12'er for two-pole trolling, and for single pole/single jig I use a 10' BnM UL bottom seat. UL is my favorite by far.

Don't laugh guys, but the rods I use are 7'2" Shimano Crucial drop-shot spinning rod and 7' St. Croix Premier spin rod. Both are 1pc med-lite with a fast tip. I use them for float fishing and casting. From time to time, I'll also use a few other UL 5-6ft rods for docks and a 8ft WallyM ProSeries and 12ft BnM rod.

8' Pro Angler w/ baitcaster for jigs
10' Pro Angler w/ baitcaster for trolling
5.5' Wally Marshall w/ spinning reel for dock shooting
5'9" Falcon Original w/ spinning reel for docks, marinas, bridges, jig & bobber, etc.
7' St Croix Premier w/ spinning reel for docks, marinas, bridges, jig & bobber, brush piles, etc.

FWIW, I've got multiples of each since I'm a tackle 'ho......

I'm not laughing at Jefferson because I firmly believe in using the best equipment you can afford....
