When you are trolling (spider rig, pushing) with jigs or Road Runners do you add any weight above them? How fast do you troll with them? Thanks

Hows it going?

I set my troll motor on 3 on a variable speed and add or lower for wind if needed. I guess most of the time I am going anywhere from .8-1.2 MPH. I don't add any weight and I long line troll a 1/32 oz. RR if the water is less than 14' and sometime will go to a 1/16 if it's like 10'-17'. If the wind is low though I really like the 1/32 best.

Hope this helps,
Skip

This is what I do, that's a 1/4 oz sinker with a rubber band doubled thru it. Makes it easy to slide the sinker up and down your line. I snug it down on my lure when moving and don't have all that line out.

Steve,

That works nicely.

My partner and I did pretty well at the CAT Lake 'O Pines tournament a couple of weeks ago pushing and pulling Road Runners. I used a 1/2 oz egg sinker about 12"-18" above the 'Runner and did pretty well from the back of the boat. He used I believe a 3/8 oz on the front and didn't do as well trolling the same colors. On my rods I just pass the line through the sinker 5-6 times like on a Capps & Coleman rig and then tie the jig on below that.

Speed wise slow enough to keep the lines more or less vertical just like spider rigging. This may seem a little slow but it seems to work just fine.
