    Default New Fly!

Here is a fly I made up to go after some gills a week ago. Was pretty suprised when I started to catch crappie on it, this is the first year I am planning on targeting crappie on the fly. Ended up with 6 crappie and a bunch of bluegill. Crappie came on a long strip then pause... as it sank, I'd see a flash of silver and set the hook. Gills were all over it if it landed anywhere close-bye.

Only had 2 hours to fish while my daughter was at a b-day party so thought it a worthy pattern... made up 6 more and put em' in the fly box! :D

Mayflies are on the hatch here in Ohio....... will this pattern last with the crappie? - AtticaFish

Yep... peacock body, black deer hair tail and some kind of hackle. Got a part of a wing from the first kit I ever bought, and the stuff is great. Kinda redish brown, lighter at the ends, and not too long of strands at all.

The peacock I get from a petting zoo place not too far away. :D Have a bunch of peacocks, and I pick up 10 or so full feathers each year we take our kids there... they're for the kids ya know!

Thanks for the comments everyone. - AtticaFish
