Don't troll cranks, but have used the Prostaff pushing 3/4ounce rigs and it works fine. My only experience with the west point was when I still fished in an oxbow near here. Didn't have it long, broke the tip off 2 different times freeing jigs hung in cypress knees by pushing the tip down to the jig. Can't fault the rod there, that's not how its meant to be used. Also broke several graphite B'M's in that manner, again not the rods fault. Had to get an Uglystik crappie rod finally for fishing the oxbow, not as sensitive but took the abuse I dished out in the cypress.
