Default Anyone have success with ice fishing jigs?

Just wondering if anyone has had any success using the vast number of ice fishing jigs at times other than winter freeze. I understand most are designed for vertical jigging presentations, but could you recommend any that could be used to cast & retrieve? I fish in northern VA, mostly on small lakes and reservoirs.

The gills and crappie tore 'em up a week after ice out on my little pond. Haven't fished it or ice jigs since tho.

Those are great for year round fishing. I would not just limit them to "hard" water but put a waxworm on them and the "Soft" water fish love them too.

You can also add a minnow's head on the hook. This works like a charm!

Thanks for the "tipping" tips guys. Sometimes hard to find good bait around here, but I was thinking about trying some of the Berkley Honeyworms for tipping. Would you recommend I stick with a vertical presentation if using ice fishing jigs, or will slow retrieves work as well?

spider rigging with ice fishing jigs. (again in FLORIDA)

Yes it does...I think it has to do with the scent and entrails trailing.:D

    Default Summer fishing

When summer hits and we start night fishing all we use are ice jigs with waxworms and minnows. Both vertical and horizontal jigs.
