    Talking Monster Gar eats jet-skiers!

Wonder where in MS that first one was captured? I always thought of
them as a fish of the rivers and backwaters, but that looks like an awful
big reservoir in the background... Maybe we could start some kind of an
urban myth and get it circulating about them pulling down skiers, or
somebody off a jet ski :D That might make things a little more peaceful
fishing, though it would probably have little effect on my main trouble-makers,
the yachts and offshore racing boats. Man, those things can roll a wake!
I can sort of deal with the offshore boats, at least you can dig on the
sounds coming off those 2 or 3 big-block motors... a couple of BB Chebys
with big cams and open exhaust idling up a hollow at Pickwick, right at sunset, echoing off the rock walls is worth the wake, to me at least.
Somebody doctor up a picture for me of a jet ski with big teeth marks on
it - I'll tack it up at all the boats launchs!

    Default Holy Moly!!!

Man that is a huge fish, I've never seen anything like it and sure don't want to see it on the end of my pole!!! What kind of reels are those that they used to land that thing?

    Moose:

I think those are bows - not downriggers. That picture came from the MS Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks Department website but I couldn't find it to get any more information. They must have shot that monster and then reeled it in with those little Zebco looking reels on their bows. I'd like to have seen them tackling that one - bet it took a while unless they killed it right away with an arrow.

Heard a story from my dad about a guy with a new Ranger on Lake Amistad in South Texas who hit one at top speed. Ripped the entire tansom off. Last I heard Ranger replaced the boat because they said that should not have ever happened. Sounds quite amazing and honorable on both accounts.

244 lbs. Shot at Sam Rayburn in Texas. Big gator gar. I sure would like to shoot one of them one day.
