It sounds like the impeller is bad.
Anybody know of somebody who works on old Mercury outboards in the High Rock Lake area? I've got an old Merc that I just can't get the water to pump on. Any help would be much appreciated.

It sounds like the impeller is bad.
Tried that already. The old one fell apart and left little pieces inside. can't figure out how to flush the junk out.
I take mine to Wise Marine in China Grove or Tommy's Marine in Kannapolis.
Give a man a fish, feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.
try reaming hose with coat hanger...or smaller dia wire....may have to take apart try blowing out hose with compressed air and reaming combo....its possible if impeller rotted..so is hose....may have to replace.....good luck
Tighten er down till ya strip it--then back off 1/4 turn..

Nat is that the one near the Patrol Station off Web Road and Hwy 29? ...
A good friend just told me that was his brother in laws marine repair shop off Webb Road. Not sure the name of it right off...it seemed like it was near where Webb runs into Hwy 29...if they intersect...not familar with the area.
D & E Marine on Hwy 8 is near HR Lake but maybe not near you. I think he is pretty good. 336.357.5620
