I want to buy some minnows and want to keep them alive at home. I want to put them in a tank with an aerator and everything else needed so they will stay alive. What do I need to get this project going and what do i feed these fish. Thanks

It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!
48qt cooler with a electric pump from a fish tank is what i use
Just employ an old cooler you have around the house, get you a timer, a ten-dollar air pump from the store, freeze you some pop bottles of water and some fresh water (no chlorine) and you're in business.
Keep 'em cool (one or two frozen bottles daily). Don't feed 'em. You'll probably use them up before they would need feeding anyway. Feeding causes them to polute the water with amonia and that will kill the minnows quickly.
If you must feed them (maybe you keep them a long, long time) then get you an acuarium filter system, because you will certainly need it. A very few gold fish flakes every few days will keep them happy.
I catch natural rain water and change my water out every few days, just to guard against the amonia issues. Have fun! The cooler is the best insulated (and cheapest) "tank" you'll ever find.
aj
i keep ice bottle in my 48 guart cooler as long as they will stay cool they will live a long time change the water every now and then
The fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad
