You'll need this (in addition to an AV app) too.

Birddog,
I pray that I may live to fish until my dying day. And when it comes to my last cast I then most humbly pray. When in the Lord's great landing net and peacefully asleep. That in His mercy I be judged, BIG ENOUGH TO KEEP.
Site offers free for 60 days then 39.35 for product key. Is that correct?

I'm running both of the aforementioned programs. Free versions of both.
My system is currently running :
Vista Home Premium
IE8
Also running free version of Ad-Aware, & CCleaner.
For the latest/greatest anti-virus programs, & most popular (ie most used) ... go to Free Software Downloads and Reviews - Download.com and check out what they have listed.
AVG is currently on top of the list. I've used it, and it works fine. Just recently switched to Avast.
When using a "free version" of any program ... you just have to remember to update them, manually. Auto updates are only available on pay versions
... cp
DOES auto update .... I was thinking of some other free programs I've used, when I said "all" free versions have to be manually updated. Sorry, I'm a little tired (worked last night) and "spoke" before I engaged my one working brain cell :p
... cp
Downloaded free version of home addition. Now, do I download this again in 60 days? Will it inform me when free trail is about to end? Get some sleep!

The home version gives you 60 days to register it. All you need is an email address. The registration is good for 14 months. Then you just re-register. They send you a product key in your email. The only downside to the home version is it doesn't have the option to have it scan at a regularly scheduled time like once a week or so. AVG has this feature and is free. AVG takes up a little more resources though. If you even think about installing Norton, just go ahead and toss your PC in the trash and then slam your hand in the car door for being a bonehead.
