    Default Anybody tried this?

Was daydreaming about different techniques and remembered seeing a bassmaster show with Paul Elias pulling crankbaits with his rod extended deep in the water and was wondering if anyone has ever thought of taking a 10-12 ft. crappie rod and dragging a crankbait through a school of crappie the same way? Guess you can tell I 've got a lot of free time on my hands.

Never tried that with crank baits but have with jigs and it was hard to detect strikes from smaller fish.

That is called neeling and reeling. The reason he puts the rod in the water is to get the bait deeper . try it.
