I have rubber caps that fit over the ends to seal out air and moisture from the male and female sockets. That greenish crud is oxidization.

I use a little wheel bearing grease on my trailers flat plug along with rubber cap.

go to your local auto parts store and ask for some dielectric greese... it works well and is not that expensive ..its the same stuff you put on your sparkplug boots... but i would assume that shoodbefishings method would work also...but the dieelectric greese is made specificly for electrical

Thanks guys, i am going to assume by the suggestions given about grease that it will not coat the plug to much that my trailer plug and truck plug will not get a good connection, my connections have caps also i am just to lazy sometimes to put them on the plugs.

Ya'll have been a lot of help
