so far, a 1/32 or 1/16 twister tail in charturse, or black/chartruse.
Just recently picked up some willow blade pro RR, have very high hopes for those.
Love the crappie thunder umbrella tubes, but prefer them on a jig rather than a road runner.

This is the best for me. This color combo produces more hookups, I'd say 3 to 1, over other colors and body types. 1/16 oz, orange head, black chenille body, chart marabou tail.

I've been using the white head with a black and chautreuse curly tail. I figure that covers the 3 main colors. I sure do get hung up a lot with them, more than a regular jig it seems.

    Exclamation For me ...

I'd have to say the Marabou series. Most often, it's the solid chartreuse one. But, I have had good success with solid Pink & Peacock (back when they were available).
I haven't seen any great difference in bite production, of the two different blades, or even with different colored blades.
I've got the RR heads, and many different blades/bodies to put on them ... but, still find myself tying on the old standby :p (old school, I guess :D )
But hey ... this type of Roadrunner is responsible for some of my best all-time catches, in size and numbers. Us "old schoolers" don't fix what ain't broken

Yes, I tied that one myself, so I guess you could say it is custom. However, I believe you can buy them in that color combo. If you can't find them at the store, you can order them from a custom jig tier such as Skiptomylu. He is a custom tier on this board that I know ties Road Runners. See his website at Crappie Jigs Home Page. If he doesn't have that color pictured, he can prolly tie it up for you anyway.

1/32 marabou in several colors. One would be Silver/FL Yellow/Lt. Blue; another is FL Red/Variegated Black & Fl Yellow/ Chart or Black; another is Chart/Blue/Chart. Also like Silver/Blue/White.
