Default Back from the Emergency Room

Just got back from the Emergency room. I was whittling on a walking cane I am making and had to really work at one spot and dang if I didnt slip with the knife and stab myself in the arm and hit a dad gum artery. Oh well 1 to 1 1/2 pints of blood lost and a few stitches later im just fine except a little woozy lol. Dang I feel like an idiot lol.

Yeh, glad you didn't stab yourself else-where, be careful man!! ( I know how things like that can happen, one time I was drilling a hole in a piece of pipe, i was holding the pipe in one hand and the drill in the other, drill bit slipped, guess what? yep right through my hand)

I was wondering just the other day if anybody still whittled. I guess you answered my question!

Sorry about your "loss". That's WAY too much blood.

Glad to hear that you're OK! I had a few accidents like that also.

Well at least it was while doing something you like to do. I never mind too much when I slice myself filleting a nice catch or bury a hook in my finger.

Glad you are okay, gonna be a special walking cane when you are done with it, gave it a blood sacrifice so it should be very loyal now.
I love taking my kids fishing, now if I could just manage to fish at the same time.

As a taxidermist who uses scalpels most of the time, I can say that super glue is my best friend. I've glued shut several cuts that would have required stitches. Granted, none were like you had. I hit myself in the face with cape stretcher pliers a few years ago hard enough to blacken both my eyes and nearly knocked me out ( try that sometime you have plenty of extra time on your hands). It gashed the side of my nose bad. I glued it up myself because my wife thought I was a moron for not going to the hospital. There's not even a visible scar.

    Glad your OK.

Glad you're ok. I think anyone who works with knives is going to get cut sooner or later. I have a nice wood chisel scar on my leg from working on a piece of wood, had 6 stitches in that one.
