    Post Try this sunscreen

Went to see a dermatologist about a small place on my face this last fall. He told me it was just an oil gland that stops up and creates a small bump. Just one of the normal things of aging he said. Nothing to worry about he said.

He checked me over real good and said my skin was in pretty good shape right now but told me since I spend so much time fishing and being in the sun that I should apply a good sunscreen before and during every outing.

He highly recommended one and I have been very happy with it. Not too greasy and does a great job!

I would like to tell you guys about it. It's Coppertone Spectra 50. It costs about $8 a bottle. When I use it like your supposed to it does an excellent job. Sometimes I don't bother and I always get a little burned.

One thing I would like to share with you is that he told me don't neglect the tops of my ears. He said that this is one of the most common places that he has to remove skin cancers from people exposed to the sun all the time. He also said a good straw or wide brim hat offers more protection for the ears, neck, and face.

As we were leaving the office an elderly man came in and the top half of one ear was gone. Needless to say we went right to Wal-Mart and bought the Coppertone Spectra 50 SPF.

Enjoy every chance you get to go fishing but take the time to take care of your skin.

Sun screen is good. I had a bad skin cancer taken off 7 years ago. And still have a 10" long scare on the side of my leg from it.(Melanoma)
So now I use SPF 45+ all the time.

I am going in August 18th to have a skin cancer cut off my upper lip. The dermatologist has cut out 4 basal cells and one squamous cell off my face and head in the past two years. Thank goodness I haven't had any melanomas. He claims it was all old sun damage done from years ago but still advised me to stay out of the sun. I guess everyone with fair skin and blue or hazel eyes should stick to nightstalking. Even in the hottest weather I wear long pants, a long sleeved shirt, and a wide brimmed hat.

I'm going to try your sunscreen.

Until recently, I never concerned myself with sunscreen or sundamage or skin cancer. Never even thought about it much. That is until I found a white crusty patch on my left ear and asked my doctor about it. He called it precancerous something or another and took it off by freezing it. I had a lot more of them as well on my neck and arms and the back of my hands and he took them off as well.

It's nothing to fool with, I've since learned. Needless to say, I watch it now. Never go out in the sun without my starw hat and never go out for long without lathering up in sunscreen. I'll try your spf 50. I've been using spf 15, but 50 has got to be better.

I use sunscreen most of the time when it's really hot outside and at the beginning of the year. I use to spend all day long out in the sun lifeguarding and I have had my share of sun exposure. But since those days I have tried to keep out of the sun more. I was not aware of skin cancer back in those days. Hell they said it was healty to be out in the sun back then. Now they changed their mind and tell us that we should stay out of the sun.

I use some stuff from coppertone and this other stuff that is very thick when I first put it on. It keeps me from getting sunburned so that is a good thing.
It use to be healthy to be outside but since global warming started, We have had a lot more 100 degree days in the summer and the winters are getting milder. The Ultra violent rays are getting stronger now. I didn't realize the sunscreens had such a short shelf life. I have had some going on the 3rd season and it did more harm than good this year. But it doesn't have an expiration date on the contaniner. I use the Banana spf 30 and 50

I have a bad habit of not using sunscreen. Went to the doctor recently and she told me USE SUNSCREEN!!!!! Especially if you have freckles or moles anywhere on your body. I think I should start using it.

I put 15 spf Coppertone Sport on my face neck and ears every day when I get ready to go to work or to go to the lake. While at work if I'm getting out of the truck often I put more on as the day goes. I don't like getting burned or the idea of getting cancer down the line. So I put it on.

You guys worry me! I've got a place on top of my right ear that
continually flakes off, and stays tender. I know full well it is due in
large part to when I was in the AF - we spent long hours in the Florida
sun, with only a ballcap - when you're young, you think you are indestructible. I have been to two different doctors with it, first one
I described the situation in detail, and he gave me shots in the top of
each ear, some kind of steroid stuff I think - like a hornet stinging you!
I didn't want to be killed just to fix the tenderness, was just outlining the
problem! The other, he took one look at it, said it looked like cold weather
damage, asked had I ever been to Alaska (nope) Both said it was nothing
to worry about, but I'm not so sure. Hate to keep spending money to be
told the same thing, but losing half my ear or worse don't sound like fun!
I too have a phobia of sunscreen, always afraid somehow it'll end up
getting on my lures. I do keep a wide-brimmed hat pulled tight down
    over it though.

Hey guys. One of the best sun screens out there is Bull Frog. Wal-Mart normally carries it at the first of summer, but as Walley World does, when the supply runs out, they won't get anymore until the next summer.

I slather the Coppertone SPF 45 on in the mornings before I leave the house so I can wash my hands thourghly to get all the sunscreen off. I have been doing this routine for several years with out adding anymore during the day and don't get burned when the sunscreen is used. I have enough trouble catching fish as it is and I don't want to add sunscreen scent to my baits in case it would be disagreable to the fish. Sometimes I wounder though considering some of the oily type stuff sold as attractants to add to the baits.

I also had a basal cell carcinoma taken off the side of my face this spring. It kind of ended up as a minnie face life but only on one side. I believe the general consenses is that these skin cancers are a result of sunburns from years ago back when the sun was thought to be healthy for ones skin.

I do have a question for you folks that also use sunscreen on your face. The sunscreen dosen't bother my eyes when I first put it on in the morning but invarabily it will cause my eyes to burn later in the day. The burn(eye sting) seems to be caused by the wind moving around my glasses as though it is blowing the sun screen into my eyes. But early in the day when running down the lake the wind doesn't cause my eyes to burn with the sunscreen on my face. Does anyone else notice their eyes burning after using sunscreen? Another reason for putting the sunscreen on at home is that it is done in front of a mirror so that I can see exactly where it is being applied on my face and ears so that I don't get it too close to my eyes.
