I Am Looking For Idea 's Of How I Should Make A Rod Rack To Hold My Extra Fishing Rods. I Would Like Idea's On How People Would Make One To Hang The Rods Along The Ceiling Of My Basement. Something That Is Inexpensive But Functional. Any Idea's ? Pics Would Be Great If Any Of You Already Have A System That Works Well. I Would Like To Hang My Rods Above My Boat In The Basement And Be Able To Put Them In The Rack From Inside The Boat. A System That Will Allow Me To Easily Chose The Rods I Want To Take With Me. I Have About 35 Or 40 Rods If You Count All My Crappie Rods And Bass Rods Also. Any Idea's Would Be Appreciated . Thanks In Advance For The Great Idea's I'm Sure Some Of You Will Come Up With.

Here you go , you ask for it. I have used 1x4 and drill holes evenly spaced in two boards. with angle brackets mount them in the ceiling . You can put two rods per set of holes tip to but. Depends on how long the board is or how you space the holes. Ypu can hang a bunch of rods in just a min.

I Guess That Would Keep It Pretty Simple. Thanks If Someone Doesnt Give Me A Better Idea I Might Just Try That.

I need something like that myself for the ceiling in my garage.

Maybe you'll like this idea or not. It isn't the fastest or slowest but I like the results just fine.
I used some leftover 2" pvc conduit. For each rod I cut two pieces 1" long. Out of one of those pieces I made two cuts removing about a 60 degree chunk. Screwed both pieces to trusses above the spot where my boat is stored. Repeat for each rod you want to store.

Go to Wal Mart and get some of these. I screwed them rafters above my boat and all I have to do is take them down and put them in my holder in the boat.

I took some 2x4's and made U shapes with them. I mounted them to the rafters in my garage. I just lay my rods on them. They were cheap to make and work great for me.

I made a crucifix and lowered the hooks so I can get the rods without a ladder.

Wal Mart hooks.

I ripped a 2x4 in half to make 2 2x2's. Hung them from short shelf brackets.

My dad was asking me this very question just two days ago. He wants to be able to use a hinge of sorts and lower the handle ends down from the ceiling. I have seen them advertised before but thought that making one would be far cheaper. I am sure some industrious person has made their own.
