    Default Elms Bluff

I fished Elms Bluff, which is between camden and selma this weekend. We caught 52 in a day and a half, 9 over 2 lbs. Water was still up about a foot and a half from normal level. We started off fishing the banks in sloughs and didn't get a bite for 2 hours. Then we went and trolled Big Swamp Creek about 12 foot deep and caught about a dozen. At 2:00 we went back to the banks, they were about 18 inches deep in 6 to 8 foot of water. Ended up with 35 we quit at 5:00. Probably could have caught over 50 if we had fished till dark. Sunday morning we fished the banks again from 8 till 11 and had 17 slabs. If we don't get anymore rain the water should be back to normal in about a week. The water was screwed up the whole month of march, so if it gets back to normal they should really be bitin in a couple of weeks. Hope this helps!

Are you planning on being there the weekend of the 18th? That is the weekend of a big crappie tournament. The Chamber puts it on each year and it will be full of crappie fishermen, last year i believe it was over one hundred boats there.

Wilcox Area Chamber Crappie Tournament & Derby 2009

this is the link to the tournament. yall should look into getting in, it would be a shame to catch one prize fish and not be able to collect. you should check it out. either way, have a safe trip down and good luck in the water bud.
