    Default Crappie -vs- Bream

The crappie are scattered in the main channels and tough to catch right now on Lake Hamilton. But, the bream are plentiful. Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying every positive aspect of life.

Looks like the bunch had a good time on the fish.
    Better luck on the crappie.

Crappie are a lot of fun to catch and eat, but there's no better fish in the world than a good old mess of cold water blugill. The firmness of the filet is unbeatable! When you don't have any blugill in the fryer, then crappie are pretty good, but they are definately noticable when them good old slab blugills are in there too! Looks like a good day.

Do you catch the cats and stripes when crappie fishing or do you fish for the different fish for part of the day each. You always have such a variety and I know I'm not the only one to wonder how your catching all those species nearly everyday. I always look foward to seeing your latest catches. I like looking at crappie but seeing those good cats, bass and stripes along with them is always good to see. Thanks for the eye candy

Sometimes we will catch other species when crappie fishing. It's not uncommon to hook up a catfish or maybe a whites or walleye when they're running through the brushpiles. However, lately, since it's been so hot and the water temps are so high, we have been doing some trolling with Bandit 300's. When my clients seem to becoming bored with what we are doing I will change our approach. Running and gunning brushpiles, a little trolling, drowning minnows for crappie or crickets for the bream. My motto is "if they don't play, we don't stay." It works and seems to bring a mess of fish each day.
