Muskrats are alot like beavers... they do spend some time on solid ground, so chances are this one walked up into your yard and either died there or was killed by your dog. But it ddn't die then crawl up to your property.
got a question for any of those out there that know anything bout muskrats.
We have muskrats in our cove on lake murray in sc and every once in a while we see them swimming around but most of the time don't see them and never have seen them on shore. well the other day after lake murray has risen a good bit I go outside to see a dead muskrat in our yard. My question is do muskrats come up in yards? our dog had claimed it as its victorious kill but that dog doesnt swim (worthless) and so the muskrat had to have come on land for the dog to kill it. I just cant figure out if it died and crawled up on land or what but thats the first time i have ever seen a dead muskrat on land?
Nothing like a day on the lake fishing for some crappie and drinking some cold ones.
GO TIGERS!!!
