With little to no rain in close to 2 months the water is down about a foot below pool and the water is still about 70, so fishing has been slow ... real slow. With falling temps and the hope of rain soon it should pick up after the weather moves through.

Here is a cut and paste of a report from about 3 weeks ago from Brent Callicott ...

    Report for September 27, 2004

This report has more to offer than the past two. The only bad thing is that we have not had a measurable rain here in our area in over 25 days and counting with none in the distant future. The lake levels has dropped almost 5 inches below normal pool and this makes it a little more difficult to motor around with hitting some stumps. Water temps are in the mid to upper 70's as of this report. Water color has gotten a little worse and will continue if we don't get any fresh water soon. For the reports:

Crappie - This is the best bite going right now with several reports of good catches coming from the deep waters of the lake in the Lower Blue Basin. Your best bet is to drag minnows fishing about 6 to 8 foot deep in 12 foot or deeper water.

Bass - Slow. Not many fishing but as the weather continue to cools and the water temps drop the bass bite will pick up again.

    Bluegill - Slow as well.

Catfish - The catfish bite is going good now. This bite will continue until the waters cool down to winter like temps.

Remember, if you make a trip out on Reelfoot Lake watch for the stumps and motor very slow. This is a good time not to be hung on a stump with less traffic being out on the lake. Good Luck!!!!!
